I have never been comfortable asking for money or help, but have found myself in the position of needing both. I have been driving to Massachusetts for 11 months now - 3 to 4 days a week - to help my mother who is in the final stages of kidney disease; her kidneys are functioning at 16%. While I am happy to help her, I spend 5 hours in the car because the roundtrip is 250 miles and 4 hours with her. Then, I come home to clean stalls again and care for the rescues.
I have three rescued horses and one of my own along with 8 dogs, of which 4 are mine. I have 4 rescued cats, a pot-bellied pig, 23 hens, 1 rooster, 3 ducks and 12 guinea hens. Someday, I would love to expand and save more lives, but I need to get financing in order to do so.
